The Mum behind Family Saver card

Sophia Botchway is a mum of three and runs a business services company based in Chinnor, Oxfordshire.  She recently launched a new venture, which is all about helping families spend more time together, enjoying fun outings and activities, locally, nationally and abroad.The Family Saver Card is a way to help parents afford family days out, increase custom for businesses providing family-friendly entertainment.

 

The Idea

One morning Sophia and her son were queueing at the local cinema. There were several other families there to take advantage of a limited number of low cost tickets offered to younger children for the matinee screening. Sophia began chatting with another mum as they waited in line.

Unfortunately, when they reached the box office the special price tickets had sold out. Sophia was left to pay full price for both herself and her son. However, the lady she had been chatting to could not afford to do the same. Deeply disappointed, the lady and her two children had no choice but to leave, missing out on their family treat. Sophia really felt for them.

Sophia recalls the situation

“The cinema was only half full!  I thought, this is crazy – if all the parents had been allowed to bring their kids in for free at those off peak times, the cinema would have been full, the owners would have made more money on adult ticket sales and refreshments, and everyone would have been happy. The disappointment on the faces of the mother and her children caused me to think about a solution.”

Inspired by her experience at the cinema, Sophia came up with the idea of the Family Saver Card.
